The Yachaqui Wayi Responsible Travel Center is owned and operated by members from the Quechua mountain communities of Vicos, Humacchuco and Huaripampa in partnership with NGO The Mountain Institute in Peru and non-profit community based tourism organization in the U.S., Crooked Trails. Yachaqui Wayi, “House of Knowledge” in Quechua, was developed in 2005 as a place where travelers and locals could come together and share and celebrate cultural diversity. The center’s main aim is to provide educational tools that help tourists travel in a more respectful and responsible way.
